Born in the city of Sukhumi on the 1st of January 1953.
In 1969, after completing secondary school, he entered the Faculty of Biology of the Sukhumi State University, from which he graduated in 1974.
From 1977 to 1980 he was a post-graduate student at the Moscow Medical Institute.
In 1983 he wrote his doctoral thesis on the subject ìMicromorphological study of the neurosecretory system in helminthsî
In 1982 he started to work at the Biology Departament of the Abkhasia State University.
In 1989 he was appointed Dean of the Biology Faculty at the Sukhumi branch of the Tbilisi State University.
Since 1993 he has been living in the city of Tbilisi and he has been working as professor at the Biology Departament of the Sukhumi branch of the Tbilisi State University.
In 1999 he started to work on the post-doctoral thesis ìNeurosecretion of helminthsî, which was approved by the Academic Council of the Sukhumi branch of the Tbilisi State University in that same year.
