Vakhtang Beria

He was born in the city of Sukhumi on the 23rd of February 1948.

In 1965 he finished Sukhumi secondary school and was awarded a gold medal for his school performance. That same year he entered the Biological and Soil Science Faculty of the Moscow State University. He graduated cum laude in 1970. During his last years at University, he was awarded the Lenin Scholarship. He pursued a postgraduate degree at the Biology Faculty of the Moscow State University.

In 1976 he wrote his doctoral science thesis, which was approved by the Academic Council of the Biology Faculty of the Moscow State University.

From 1977 to 1981 he worked as research assistant at the Sukhumi Medical Cybernetics Department, Cybernetics Institute of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.

From 1981 to 1983 he worked as professor at the Human and Animal Physiology Department of the Abkhasia State University.

From 1989 to 1994 he worked as professor at the Human and Animal Physiology Department of the Georgia State University.

From 1995 to 1997 he worked as assistant professor at the Normal Physiology Departament of the Saint Petersburg Medical University.

Since 1998 he lives in Tbilisi and works as professor at the Human Anatomy and Physiology Department.

In 1999 he worked for a few months on the Programme for the Reorganization of Agriculture sponsored by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development in Georgia.

Since 2002 he has been working as Head of the Technical Control Department of the company Iveriapharma on R&D of Nasodren to combat symptoms of sinus infection.

He has more than 20 papers published and 12 intellectual property certificates.
